Cold-rolled product and forming decision

DC01 Steel: Check the EN Product Scope and Forming Requirement

The BSI record lists BS EN 10130:2006 as current. Its inspected original clauses address uncoated cold-rolled flat products, designation and the surface and delivery choices to settle on an order. Start with the actual product form and drawing duty; a DC01 name alone does not establish forming or appearance acceptance for your part.

01 · DC01 identity

What DC01 Identifies

BSI identifies BS EN 10130:2006 as current for cold-rolled low-carbon flat products for cold forming. The inspected original clause 4 includes product form, EN 10130, steel name or number, surface quality and, where applicable, surface finish in the designation; its DC01 example is a sheet designation. That example does not certify every delivery condition or a particular part's forming result.

Before quotation, write the edition, full ordered designation, product form, dimensions, surface requirements and forming operation in one request. If one is missing, ask the technical owner to define it before treating offers as comparable.

02 · EN product scope

Check EN Product Scope Before Choosing a Grade

Inspected clause 1 covers uncoated cold-rolled low-carbon flat products for cold forming in its stated rolled-width and thickness scope, delivered as sheet, coil, slit coil or cut lengths. Confirm the actual width, thickness and form against that clause and the project's specification. Narrow-rolled strip and product classes governed by their own standards are excluded; a coated offer needs a separate applicable-standard review.

Record form and standard on the quotation. If a seller offers a different form or coating state, compare it as an alternative for technical approval. Dimensional tolerances need their own applicable basis rather than a value guessed from DC01.

03 · Forming duty

Translate the Part Drawing into a Forming Requirement

Give the supplier the drawing revision and describe the actual process: blanking, bending or drawing, critical radii and any visible or coated areas. State the trial or part acceptance method that will decide whether a proposed material works in the purchaser’s tooling.

Do not infer a deep-draw guarantee from the grade name. The responsible engineer should select and approve the grade and processing route against the actual tooling, lubrication, storage history and part geometry.

04 · Surface and condition

Order Surface and Delivery State Explicitly

Clause 5.4 treats skin-pass and oiling as delivery conditions to settle at enquiry and order; do not assume the offered lot has an option simply because the standard discusses it. Clause 5.6 distinguishes surface quality from surface finish and requires both on the order. State the critical face, appearance reference, protection and any painting or coating process, then agree how receipt inspection will judge them.

A generic finish photo cannot prove the delivered lot's surface. Ask for the exact offered condition and compare it with the drawing before approving a change. This page does not claim that ZIVO provides a particular skin-pass, oiling or surface service.

05 · MTC and receipt

Close the Loop with the Certificate and Coil ID

At receipt, match the purchase order to the coil or sheet identification and inspection document: standard edition, designation, form, dimensions, ordered condition and the agreed test entries. Note any mismatch before accepting the material for production.

The certificate reports results for the identified material; it does not by itself authorize a design change or prove forming success on the purchaser’s line. The full standard and order determine which tests and inspection document are required.

06 · Coil enquiry

Take a Defined Requirement to the Coil Offer

Once the form and acceptance basis are set, take the exact DC01 requirement to the published commercial coil page. Use the cold-rolled coil family page if the product route is still being selected. A separate SPCC/DC01 page supports comparison of ordering systems, but it is not an automatic equivalence approval.
