Galvanized narrow strip sourcing

China Galvanized Steel Strip Supplier: Route, Edge and Coating

ZIVO STEEL can arrange galvanized strip slit from parent coil or separately sourced as narrow strip. Hot-dip and electro-galvanized inquiries are evaluated separately; finished edge, winding and processing responsibility are agreed for your order.

01 · Strip route

Select the Strip Route

ZIVO STEEL can arrange galvanized steel strip by slitting and rewinding a suitable galvanized parent coil, or through a separately sourced finished narrow-strip route. Select the route that fits the required finished strip and ask the quotation to name it. Parent-coil data is an input to a slit order; it does not automatically establish every finished width, edge, winding or coating acceptance requirement.

A separately sourced narrow strip needs its own material and process description. Ask when coating and cutting occur and which finished-strip requirements the source will accept. Do not infer the manufacturing sequence from the term galvanized strip. If either route can meet the drawing, compare separate offers using the same width schedule, coating basis, edge and winding requirements. ZIVO coordinates specified processing and confirms the agreed responsibility in the written quotation or order.

  • Slit from galvanized parent coil

Select the parent material and coating route, then agree slitting, finished edge, strip width and rewinding requirements for the order.

  • Separately sourced narrow strip

Request a finished-strip offer with its own grade, standard, coating sequence, dimensions, edge condition and winding terms.

02 · Material and coating

Specify Parent Material and Coating

Hot-dip galvanized and electro-galvanized strip inquiries can both be evaluated, but they need separate material and coating specifications. State the grade, governing standard and edition, coating route, coating designation and measurement basis. Identify whether the requirement applies to each face or to a stated combined basis, and name any surface treatment required or prohibited. Do not copy a hot-dip coating designation into an electro-galvanized order simply because both use zinc.

For strip slit from a parent coil, identify the proposed source material separately from the finished-strip requirements. For separately sourced strip, ask for the offered grade, coating and process route directly. A prior coil configuration does not authorize a finished strip combination. Put any forming, welding, painting or other end-use requirement in the RFQ so the offered material and coating can be checked for that actual operation.

  • Hot-dip inquiryUse the applicable hot-dip standard, designation and coating measurement basis for the selected material route.
  • Electro-galvanized inquiryUse its own standard, designation, face-by-face or other stated measurement basis and treatment; evaluate it independently.
03 · Strip geometry

Define Final Strip Geometry

Give the finished thickness and width schedule, quantity per line, and the downstream operation the strip must enter. Describe the edge condition, burr and camber acceptance method rather than asking only for a nominal width. If the edge orientation matters to the next process, identify it on the drawing or order line. The available parent material and the intended processing route must be checked together.

For a wound delivery, request the needed coil inside diameter, outside diameter or handling limit, weight per unit, winding direction, packaging and any permitted joints. State the winding condition that your equipment needs and how it will be accepted. ZIVO will coordinate the specified processing requirements and confirm responsibility in writing. Width limits, burr/camber tolerances, winding tension and any yield expectation are supplier- and order-specific; this page does not offer a universal process setting.

Attach the downstream die or feeder requirement to the final strip schedule. Agree where burr height and camber are measured, how many samples represent a wound unit, and whether the inner or outer wraps are excluded from measurement. Record the accepted edge orientation and winding direction on the packing label so receiving staff can check the delivered unit.

  • Edge and shapeFinished width, edge condition, burr or camber criteria, measuring method and any orientation needed for feeding or forming.
  • Winding and handlingRequested coil inside diameter, unit handling limits, winding direction, joint policy, identification and packing.
04 · Cut-edge exposure

Assess Edge Exposure

Slitting or shearing coated steel can expose base steel at the new cut edge. Some surface zinc may be drawn onto part of a sheared face, but that does not establish an edge coating equal to the original coated surfaces. A coated parent coil therefore does not prove a fully coated slit edge.

Tell the supplier whether that edge will remain visible, enter a wet environment, or be covered, formed or treated later. Ask for the offered edge condition, the relevant sample or measurement, and the acceptance requirement for your use. If a separate edge treatment is needed, specify it as a requirement to evaluate and price; do not assume it is included. The final order must distinguish coated-face acceptance from edge acceptance. No corrosion life or end-use performance guarantee follows from the sourcing route described here.

05 · Packing and RFQ

Pack, Trace and Quote

Agree the unit labels, grade and coating identification, finished width and material-lot reference that will travel with each strip unit. For slit-parent-coil supply, ask how the source material record links to the finished strip and processing checks. For separately sourced narrow strip, require the source and document basis stated in its own offer. A parent certificate alone does not establish the final edge, width or winding condition.

Send the preferred or acceptable supply route, hot-dip or electro-galvanized type, grade and standard edition, coating designation and measurement basis, finished thickness and width schedule, quantity, edge/burr/camber criteria, winding requirements, inspection documents, packing and destination. ZIVO coordinates the specified processing requirements and confirms the agreed responsibility in the quotation or order. The selected source, material, strip width, quantity and processing route determine the actual offered terms; availability, price and timing are checked for that request.

  1. Before ordering

Compare route, material/coating specification, finished acceptance, document linkage and responsibility against the same inquiry lines.

  2. At receipt

Keep unit labels and package condition records, then check the agreed width, edge and winding criteria before feeding the strip into production.
