Machining Round Bar and Solid Shape Scope
ZIVO STEEL sources solid round carbon steel bar for machining. The hot-rolled 45 Steel route and cold-drawn round-bar route are separate supply paths; a cold-drawn SAE/AISI grade is named only when the actual supplier order confirms it. Grades from different designation systems are checked independently. Square, flat and hex bars may be raised as inquiries, but none is a confirmed public supply configuration here; each needs a separately evidenced grade and supplier route before an offer. Rebar, wire rod, alloy tool steel, bearing steel and spring steel are outside this page’s default offer. Begin with the finished component and the blank shape needed to make it.

Grade and Delivery Condition for Machining
Put the current bar product standard, grade and delivery condition on the inquiry. Hot-rolled and cold-drawn routes are the ordinary starting points, with forged bar treated as order-specific rather than a default route. The same grade name can appear in different product forms and conditions; a carbon coil record does not prove that bar is available. ZIVO checks grade and route together before offering a source. Keep the China-route 45 Steel order separate from any SAE/AISI grade on a cold-drawn quotation; a similar number or familiar translation is not an approved material equivalence.

Blank Diameter, Length and Tolerance
Send the finished-part drawing and the required supplied blank diameter or section dimensions. Include cut length, tolerance, straightness and machining allowance so the chosen stock can be held and processed. If a shoulder, thread or keyway will be machined, identify the largest finished envelope and where extra material is needed. The blank acceptance point is not the same as the final machined part acceptance.

Cut allowance
State how much stock must remain at the ends and any surface-removal requirement.
Surface, Cutting and Inspection
State the as-delivered surface condition and any cut-to-length service required, then define how bars will be inspected at receipt. A bar intended for machining may need straightness and surface checks before the first cut; specify the method the machining shop will use. Ask for identification that ties each bundle or cut length to the purchase line and material document. Special tests are quoted only after the actual supplier route is checked.
