DX52D Galvanized Steel Coil
ZIVO STEEL is a steel supplier, and this page is about hot-dip galvanized coil ordered as DX52D+Z: a zinc-coated cold-rolled base whose grade letter places it at drawing quality on the EN 10346:2015 forming ladder. That letter describes where the grade sits in a classification. It does not describe a part, a press, a tool or a result. Everything below is the part of the order worth writing down, so that the quotation answers the job you are actually placing.

Start with the Formed Part
Describe the part before you name a grade letter. Which way the blank is drawn, how deep, over what radius, how many hits it takes, where the wall thins, where the flange wrinkles, where a crack has already appeared on whatever material you are running now — that description is what a grade letter can be judged against. A letter on its own cannot be judged against anything.
EN 10346:2015 arranges the low carbon steels for cold forming by increasing suitability for cold forming, and in clause 4.1.2 it places DX51D at bending and profiling quality and DX52D one rung higher, at drawing quality. That is a classification of the steels, not a forecast for your tool. A part that fails at DX51D does not automatically succeed at DX52D. The two are separate designations ordered separately, and neither is substituted for the other automatically in either direction: a swap is reviewed against the specification or drawing the part is actually built to, and it goes ahead only with your written agreement. If a coil arrives on a DX52D line item, DX52D is what was ordered.
So write the forming sequence into the enquiry in plain sentences, together with the trouble spots and the grade your drawing or part standard actually calls for. Where the part is a bend, a roll-form or a profile rather than a draw, the DX51D page is the one to read instead — it is a different choice, not a cheaper version of this one.
Confirmed DX52D+Z Coil Route
The table sets out the one DX52D+Z coil route ZIVO STEEL arranges. The zinc goes on in a continuous hot-dip line over a cold-rolled base, and the +Z symbol is the zinc coating itself, not a figure. Thickness runs 0.13–6.0 mm and width 600–1500 mm; nothing on this page is drawn from another grade's line item or another mill's page.
Read the coating entry as what it says it is. It is a commercial span the route is offered across, and a span is not a coating class. It does not become one particular class at the moment the order is written, it is not quietly narrowed to whichever class you had in mind, and it carries no zinc mass minimum from any normative table. Which coating requirement your part needs is settled in the next part of the page, in writing.
Testing and documents work the same way, and this page does not try to guess them for you. Ask the quotation to name the document set that travels with the shipment and to list any further test or inspection your job needs, each with its standard, edition, direction and sampling frequency, so both sides are working from the same list before the material is committed. Where the specification you are ordering to already calls for a test, that test stays a requirement whether or not it is priced as a separate line. Galvanized coil is supplied from partner factories: where the partner factory is holding suitable material the order ships from that stock, and where it is not, production is arranged.

Name the Coating and Surface to Be Ordered
One line of the enquiry decides the coating, and it has to be a chosen requirement rather than the span the route is offered across. Say what you want, say how it is to be read, and the governing designation is resolved with ZIVO sales before the order instead of being inferred afterwards.
- The coating requirement you are ordering toThe single coating requirement your drawing, part standard or previous delivery calls for — not the whole span. If you only know what the last shipment carried, send that figure and its source and let the designation be resolved rather than assumed.
- How the coating is to be measuredWhether the figure you have given is meant as a total across both faces or per face, and by what method and sampling it is to be checked on arrival. A coating figure without its measurement basis can be read two ways, and the two readings do not agree.
- Surface treatmentChromate passivation, chromium-free passivation, phosphating, oiled, dry or anti-fingerprint. Chromium-free matters where your own product has to meet a restricted-substance requirement, so say if that applies.
- Appearance and skin passZero, minimised, regular or big spangle, and whether the coil is to be skin passed. Where the part is visible after assembly, or is to be painted without a filler coat, state that here so appearance is quoted as a requirement and not left to habit.
- Oiling, and what happens nextOiled or non-oiled, and one sentence on the operation that follows: press work with a particular lubricant, welding or another joining method, adhesive bonding, degreasing, phosphating, painting. Ask whether the oiling and passivation on offer are compatible with that joining, cleaning or paint process, and what cleaning it needs beforehand, so the treatment is chosen against your real next step.

Agree Forming Properties and Delivery Condition
If your acceptance depends on numbers — a yield range, a tensile range, an elongation floor, an r or n value, a limiting draw ratio — then those numbers belong in the enquiry as requirements, with the standard and the edition you are holding them to, and the thickness they apply at. Property requirements are usually written for a thickness band rather than for the whole range a grade is rolled in, so a figure quoted without its thickness band is not yet a requirement anybody can accept against. Say also which direction a test is to be taken in if direction matters to your part, and how many samples per lot you expect.
This page publishes no generic property values for DX52D — no typical value set, no guaranteed draw ratio — because what a coil does in your tool depends on the tool, the lubricant, the blank, the press and the operator as much as on the steel. So tell us the properties your order has to meet and the documentation you need for the lot the material comes from. If "will it form" has to be proven before you commit, say so in the enquiry: ask whether trial evidence is needed for this part, who would carry the trial out and on whose press, and what the quotation covers if it is.
Delivery condition works the same way. Say what condition and hardness you need the strip delivered in, and whether a previous delivery you were satisfied with can be used as the reference. Nothing on this route carries a default delivery condition that can be assumed on your behalf, and the specification is confirmed by ZIVO sales together with you before the order and then kept on file, so what was agreed is what can be checked against later.
Size and Handling for the Actual Order
Sizes for this route come from its own line item and nowhere else: 0.13–6.0 mm thick, 600–1500 mm wide. Ask inside that range and ask exactly — the finished width you need rather than a nominal one, the thickness with the tolerance you are working to, mill edge or slit edge, and the strip schedule if the coil is to be slit or cut to length.
Handling decides as much as size. Give the heaviest coil your crane, decoiler and transport can take and the inner diameter your mandrel accepts, and the quotation is written against those limits rather than around them. Add the quantity, as tonnage or as a number of coils, and say whether it is one call-off or a schedule; lead time is confirmed against the specification and the quantity, so an approximate quantity produces an approximate answer. Coils ship on a wooden pallet with steel edge protectors and moisture-proof paper, never unpacked.
Where this route does not fit — a different grade letter, a coating span that is not offered here, a width or thickness outside the figures above — the wider galvanized coil page sets out what else can be arranged. Going there is a change of route, not a way of getting DX52D forming behaviour out of something else.
Acceptance and Traceability
Acceptance is easiest to agree before the coil is rolled and hardest to agree after it has landed. Set out what will be measured, against which figures, by whom, and which paper has to arrive with the lot. Naming the governing specification and its edition carries that document's own requirements into the order; anything you need beyond it has to be written in as well.
- Dimensional acceptanceThe thickness, width and, where the coil is cut, length tolerances you accept against, the standard and edition they come from, and where on the coil they are checked. Say what is done with the head and tail of a coil.
- Coating acceptanceThe coating requirement from the enquiry restated as an acceptance figure, with its measurement basis, method and sampling plan. Without the basis written down, a result and a requirement can be compared and still not settle anything.
- Surface and appearance acceptanceHow spangle, passivation film, oiling and visible defects are judged, and on which face. If a sealed reference sample or a previous lot is the benchmark, name it in the order rather than describing it.
- Tests you are nominatingThe specification and edition agreed for the order can already make mechanical, coating or surface tests mandatory, and those requirements stand. Ask the quotation to name the tests it runs against that specification and the documents that evidence them, then add any further test you require, with its standard, edition, direction and sampling frequency.
- Documents tied to the shipmentWhich certificate type you need, which results it has to carry, and how it ties to the heats, coil numbers and packing list you receive. A quotation from ZIVO STEEL as a supplier is not a producer catalogue, so the requirements you hold the order to are the ones agreed with ZIVO and kept on file, not figures picked up from a mill brochure.
Prepare Your DX52D Inquiry
The form takes four fields: Name, Email, WhatsApp, which is optional, and Your Inquiry. Everything below goes into Your Inquiry in whatever order suits you. Where you do not yet know an answer, write that you do not know it rather than leaving the line out — an open question can be quoted around, a silent gap cannot.
- The part and the forming sequenceWhat the coil becomes, how it is formed, and where the trouble is. If you are moving off another grade, say which one and what went wrong.
- Grade and coating targetDX52D+Z, and the one coating requirement you are ordering to, with the basis it is to be read on. Say if the figure comes from a drawing, a standard or a previous delivery.
- Size, edge and processingThickness and width inside the 0.13–6.0 mm and 600–1500 mm range, the tolerance you work to, mill edge or slit edge, and the slit or cut-to-length schedule if there is one.
- Condition, treatment and appearanceThe delivery condition and hardness you need, oiled or non-oiled, the passivation or other treatment, the spangle you want and whether the coil is to be skin passed.
- Quantity and handling limitsTonnage or number of coils, one call-off or a schedule, the heaviest coil your site can lift and the inner diameter your mandrel takes. A quotation needs the grade, finish, thickness, width, length and quantity, and lead time is confirmed against the specification and the quantity.
- Tests, documents and destinationThe tests you are nominating with their standard and edition, the certificate and results you need with the lot, and the destination port or city. Send it to the inquiry email or through the contact page, whichever is easier.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. EN 10346:2015 arranges these steels by increasing suitability for cold forming and puts DX52D at drawing quality, a rung above the bending and profiling quality of DX51D, but that is a position in a classification and not a prediction about your tool. Whether a part draws depends on the tool, the lubricant, the blank, the press and the operator as well as the steel. Send the forming sequence and the trouble spots, and where the answer has to be proven before you commit, ask in the enquiry whether trial evidence is needed for this part, who would run the trial and what the quotation covers.
The coating is offered across a commercial span rather than as one named class, and a span is not a class. Nothing here is turned into a particular class because the order has to say something, and no zinc mass minimum from a normative table is implied by it. Tell us the coating requirement your part is built around and the governing designation is resolved with ZIVO sales before the order, in writing, so the figure on the acceptance side and the figure on the ordering side are the same figure.
This page publishes no generic guaranteed mechanical values, because properties quoted without a standard edition, a nominal thickness and a test direction cannot be used for acceptance. In your enquiry, state the product standard and edition you hold the material to, the nominal thickness, the test direction and the properties your acceptance depends on, together with any lot documentation you need the order to arrive with. Those points are then confirmed with ZIVO sales in writing before the order, so what is tested and documented is what you accept against.
Ask the quotation to say so in writing rather than assuming it either way. Have it identify the document set that accompanies the shipment, and list the further tests or inspections your job needs — each with its standard, edition, test direction and sampling frequency — so they are confirmed for the order before the material is committed. Where the specification you order to already requires a test, it stays required even when it is priced separately. The confirmed specification is kept on file, so what arrives can be checked against what was agreed.
No. ZIVO STEEL is a steel supplier rather than a mill. Galvanized coil is supplied from partner factories: where a partner factory is holding material that meets the agreed specification the order ships from that stock, and where it is not, production is arranged. Which of the two applies is confirmed against your specification and quantity when the order is priced, along with the lead time.
