Coil Flatness and Camber: Set Measurable Line Limits
Describe the production fault before specifying a shape limit. A strip that steers sideways, a cut sheet that waves, and a formed part that sits unevenly need different observations and measurements. Agree the product form, test state, method and acceptable result with the receiving line before a supplier confirms the order.

Define the Downstream Problem First
Record the operation that fails: uncoiling, slitting, cut-to-length, stamping, roll forming or welding. Note whether the symptom is waviness or buckle across the face, sideways edge deviation, coil set or a problem introduced after cutting. Keep photos, machine settings and the position along the coil. Do not use one shape word to cover different faults.
Give the steel grade, form, thickness, width and current processing route. Ask the production engineer which fault actually prevents feeding, cutting accuracy or finished-part fit, and which observation the incoming inspection can reproduce.
Define the Measurement Method and State
State whether the material is measured on the coil, on a freely lying cut sheet, after leveling or after forming. Identify the datum, length or span, measurement tools, units and sampling positions. Keep flatness or wave assessment separate from edge camber, and describe how the edge path or maximum departure is determined.
Check the applicable product and general-requirements standard for the actual material, but write any additional line-specific method explicitly. A number is not reproducible if the cut length, support condition, restraint or inspection stage changes between seller and receiving plant.
Set a Limit the Processing Line Can Use
Ask the line owner for the maximum incoming shape deviation it can feed and the finished-part tolerance it must achieve. Use a controlled trial or engineering judgment for the actual grade, thickness and width. Define which deviations can be corrected by the agreed processing route and who is responsible for that step.
Do not take a limit from another steel form or a public supplier chart and call it the contract requirement. Ask the proposed seller to confirm the limit and inspection method for the exact order, including any exception, before production or shipment.

Measure and Record at Receipt
Set a sample plan across coil head, middle and tail or across the cut-sheet lot, whichever matches the accepted method. Record the material and heat/lot IDs, position, measurement state, tool, result and responsible inspector. Keep a photo or trace when a defect affects the line.
Segregate a disputed coil before slitting or cutting destroys the original condition. If the material is leveled before measurement, record who performed that work and which acceptance state the order actually requires. A certificate alone may not document the observed line-feed condition.
Write a Verifiable Shape Requirement
Send the full material identity, applicable standard edition, form, thickness, width, coil or cut-length state, agreed flatness and camber methods, limits, sample positions, required records and disposition process. Ask which party supplies leveling or other correction, if needed, and record it in the quote.
At receipt, match the accepted order to the labelled lot and inspect by the agreed method. Ask ZIVO STEEL to confirm only the exact material and processing responsibility it can offer; a general coil page does not promise a universal flatness or camber value.
Frequently Asked Questions
Add the product and measurement state, datum, span or cut length, tool, units and sample positions so both parties can reproduce the result.
They describe different observations and may affect the line differently. State the edge-path method and the face-shape method separately for the ordered form.
Agree whether acceptance is on the incoming coil, a cut sheet or material after leveling, and inspect a labelled sample before additional processing hides the original condition.
