Inspect on arrival

Inspect the package before unloading and record any wetness, torn wrap, impact or exposed edge. Prepainted material can be damaged by trapped moisture or careless lifting before it is installed. Agree who records the condition, how a wet pack is opened and dried, and when a claim must be raised. Do not leave an affected bundle sealed while assuming its outer paint makes it immune to moisture.

Keep packs dry and ventilated

Keep material under suitable cover with ventilation and stable support. Avoid ground contact and conditions that trap condensation; minimize unnecessary storage time. Lift coils and sheet bundles with equipment and contact surfaces appropriate to their weight and finish, and protect the painted face from sliding abrasion. The handling plan depends on the actual package and site, so ask the supplying partner for its packing instructions.

Handle faces and edges

Use lifting points and contact surfaces suitable for the actual coil or bundle, and prevent one painted face from sliding over another. Keep sharp edges, straps and forks away from visible panels. Ask for partner instructions before removing protective wrap or film; some films and adhesives are time- or condition-sensitive. Record any scrape or dent while the material is still identifiable by bundle.

Record cut-edge condition

Cut edges and punched areas expose a different condition from the painted face. Identify where cutting occurs, what edge condition the drawing permits and who is responsible for any agreed edge treatment. Do not infer a fixed corrosion life or a guarantee from a generic statement about the metallic coating. Keep offcuts and damaged samples if an acceptance disagreement may need evidence.

05

Escalate damage with evidence

At receipt, reconcile bundle labels, piece count, profile or flat geometry, color sample and documents with the order. Note where visible damage or moisture is found and separate it from later site damage. ZIVO can ask the partner supplier to confirm packing and handling instructions for the actual order.
