Visible panel procurement

Decorative Stainless Panels: Sample and Direction RFQ Guide

A finish name or website image is not a complete appearance requirement. Approve a physical reference, mark the visible face and direction of each panel, and keep the sample tied to the order.

01 · Finish reference

Approve a Physical Appearance Reference

Name the stainless grade, delivered sheet or plate form, applicable product standard and base finish first. If a special polish, texture or other decorative result is needed, ask the actual source whether it can supply that process before setting an offer. Approve a physical swatch or mock-up showing the visible face, direction and acceptable variation, and record its lot, date, owner and viewing conditions. A monitor photograph cannot establish color, reflectivity or grain as a contract sample. Keep the approved reference available for the incoming check and any later replacement order.

  1. Base material

Set grade, product form and standard.

  2. Appearance

Approve a real swatch for a special result.

  3. Conditions

Record lighting, distance and viewing face.

02 · Panel orientation

Draw Face and Direction Arrows for Every Panel

Provide an installation elevation and panel schedule with a unique piece ID, visible-face arrow and grain or rolling-direction arrow for every panel. Give finished width and length, cut orientation, nesting allowance and location in the installed assembly. Rotating one panel during cutting can make adjacent grain directions disagree even when the finish label is unchanged. Have the cutting party verify orientation against the approved layout before processing. A patterned or colored decorative catalog is not proof that the selected finish is available for this order; any such route needs its own confirmed source and sample.

  • ElevationShow where each finished piece will be installed.
  • DirectionMark grain and visible-face arrows on every piece.
  • NestingKeep cut orientation consistent with the elevation.
03 · Protection and marks

Specify Film, Handling and Piece Labels

Say whether protective film is needed, which face it covers, how its direction is marked and when it may be removed. Confirm film type, residue expectations and storage limits with the actual sheet and film source rather than assuming one standard covering fits every finish. Pack visible faces to reduce rubbing and edge damage. Identify each sheet or cut panel by source batch, piece ID and orientation without marking the approved face permanently. Agree who will inspect beneath the film and at what stage, since scratches may remain hidden until removal.

  • IdentifyKeep batch, piece and direction labels together.
  • InspectAgree checks before and after film removal.
04 · Receipt and continuity

Compare Adjacent Panels Before Installation

At receipt, match the certificate and batch to the sheet or panel labels, then check count, size, direction arrows, film side and packing condition. Compare representative adjacent pieces with the approved physical swatch under the stated lighting, viewing distance and face orientation before installation changes the evidence. Record scratches, direction mismatch, film damage and replacement needs by piece and batch. Keep the physical reference and written acceptance conditions for a later spare order. A repeated finish name does not guarantee visually identical later batches, so the reference and source must be rechecked.

  • PreserveRecord mismatches before cutting or installation.
05 · Panel RFQ

Send One Schedule for the Whole Panel Set

Send the approved grade, sheet standard and edition, base finish or separately confirmed decorative process, physical swatch reference, elevation and piece schedule with face and grain arrows, finished sizes, quantity and spares. Add film side, cutting and marking responsibility, document needs, packing and destination. Ask the actual source which material and appearance route it can confirm and which operations are included; a raw sheet, polished blank and installed architectural panel are different scopes. The quotation and receipt plan should name the physical sample and batch basis rather than promise appearance from a website photo.

  1. Sample

    Identify the approved physical reference.

  2. Schedule

Attach panel sizes and direction arrows.

  3. Scope

Separate sheet, finish processing and installation.
