Steel Coil for Stamping: Specify for the Actual Draw
A steel grade alone does not approve a stamped part. Bring the drawing, forming sequence and acceptance criteria to the material discussion. Ask ZIVO STEEL for an exact coil offer; have your toolmaker and engineer qualify that material through the agreed trial.

Start from the Part and Deformation Path
Send the drawing revision, material orientation, draw depth, corner radii, holes, flanges and critical appearance faces. Show the blank shape and the order of drawing, bending, trimming and piercing. Mark the feature or surface that currently limits the process.
Attach a sample or prior run record if one exists. A similar part made elsewhere is a question for the trial plan, not proof that the same coil will work with a different die, lubrication or press setup.
Screen Grade and Delivery Condition for the Tool
Specify product form, applicable standard and edition, grade or designation, delivery condition, thickness and blank width. Give the toolmaker the actual operation sequence, press settings and failure mode to review. Ask which properties must appear on the producer certificate and which can only be established in a first-article run.
Keep hot-rolled, cold-rolled, stainless and coated routes separate. A standard's material designation or a generic formability description does not guarantee the part will meet its draw, strength or appearance requirements.
Define the Surface and Process Interface
Mark which face contacts the die, which face remains visible, and where lubricant, cleaning, welding or coating follows stamping. Set the required finish or coating identity for the material under review and describe the surface condition to be accepted before and after forming.
Ask the processor to define its lubrication and cleaning trial for the actual tool and material. Do not infer that a coil finish, oil condition or supplier description will prevent marks, cracking or coating damage in an untested process.

Keep Batch Identity Through First-Article Approval
Require heat and coil identity on labels and documents. Agree the incoming dimensional and surface sample, the certificate fields to compare, and the first-article checks for the critical draw and visible features. Record which coil and setup produced each approval sample.
If a later coil, heat or delivery condition changes, state when requalification is needed. Separate a material nonconformance from a tooling or process change using the records agreed before production.
Send RFQ and Approval Inputs Together
Send the drawing revision, operation and tool sequence, candidate material identity, thickness and width, surface or coating, coil handling limits, required documents, forecast volume and first-article criteria. Ask ZIVO STEEL to confirm the exact available coil configuration, order exceptions and any processing responsibility before the purchase order is issued.
The ordering engineering team should approve the sample and acceptance plan. At receipt, compare the lot documents and agreed tests with the quote rather than treating an application page as a blanket stampability warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Match the product standard, form and delivery condition to the part and tool, then approve the actual material through a recorded trial and first-article check.
Mark the visible and tool-contact faces, required finish or coating, lubrication and cleaning steps, and the inspection stage for marks or damage.
Keep the heat and coil identity, certificate, incoming checks and first-article result together. Agree which material or process changes trigger a new approval.
